Payroll Malaysia: Opt in or opt out of SKBBK contribution for employees

Learn how to manage SKBBK contribution settings for employees, including opting in individual or multiple employees and understanding the default opt-out behaviour.

By default, the system is set to opt out of SKBBK contributions for both local and foreign employees. If you do not want employees to participate in the SKBBK scheme, no action is required.

If you would like to enrol employees in SKBBK, follow the steps below.

Opt In an Employee to SKBBK

You can opt an employee into SKBBK using either of the following methods.

Method 1: Via the SOCSO Progression Tab

  1. Go to the SOCSO Progression tab.

  2. Click New.

  3. Enter the Effective Date (for example, 01/07/2026).

  4. Select the appropriate SOCSO Policy.

  5. Select the applicable SOCSO Scheme.

  6. Tick the SKBBK Contribution checkbox.

  7. Click Save.

Method 2: Via the Assign Employee Tab (Mass Assignment)

Use this method to assign SKBBK to multiple employees at once.

  1. Go to the Assign Employee tab.

  2. Enter the Effective Date (for example, 01/07/2026).

  3. Select the appropriate SOCSO Policy.

  4. Select the applicable SOCSO Scheme.

  5. Tick the SKBBK Contribution checkbox.

  6. Move the required employees to the selected list to complete the assignment.

Opt Out of SKBBK

No action is required.

The system is opted out by default, so employees will not be enrolled in SKBBK unless the SKBBK Contribution option is explicitly selected.
