If you are experiencing slow performance while using Access EasyPay, there are several factors that may affect the application's speed and responsiveness.
1. Check Your Network Connection
Poor network performance can significantly impact Access EasyPay.
Recommended checks:
Contact your IT administrator to verify your network speed and latency.
On the Client PC, open Command Prompt and run:
ping <Server IP Address>
On the Server PC, open Command Prompt and run:
ping <Client PC IP Address>
For optimal performance, the network latency should ideally be less than 10 ms.
2. Use a Wired (LAN) Connection
Wireless (Wi-Fi) connections may result in slower response times or intermittent performance issues.
Recommendation:
Use a LAN (wired) connection whenever possible for a more stable and faster connection.
3. Check the EasyPay Database Size
A large EasyPay database may reduce application performance.
Recommendation:
If your database is approximately 5 GB or larger, consider performing a database rebuild. Please contact the Sales Team to arrange the database rebuild service to remove legacy data.
Alternatively, clear the database log file by following these steps:
Open Sybase Central.
Navigate to Services.
Stop the EPEService.
Locate the EasyPay database folder.
Cut and paste the log file to another location.
Return to Sybase Central.
Start the EPEService.
4. Check for Intensive Processes on the Server
Background processes running on the server can affect EasyPay performance.
Examples include:
Windows Update
Scheduled maintenance tasks
Other resource-intensive system processes
Ensure these processes are not consuming excessive system resources while Access EasyPay is in use.
5. Review Other Applications Running on the Server
If the server is hosting multiple business applications, system resources may be shared, causing slower performance.
Examples include:
Accounting software
Point of Sale (POS) systems
Fingerprint/clocking software
Other business applications
Check the server's RAM usage and close unnecessary applications if required.
6. Consider the Number of Employees
The size of your employee database also affects processing time.
If your Access EasyPay database contains more than 100 employees, certain payroll processes may take longer to complete.
7. Verify Server Hardware Specifications
Older or underpowered hardware may lead to reduced performance.
Recommended checks:
Open Task Manager on the server.
Monitor:
CPU utilisation
Memory utilisation
For optimal performance:
CPU and Memory usage should ideally remain below 50% during normal operation.
The server should have at least 8 GB RAM if it is dedicated to hosting Access EasyPay.
8. Check Antivirus Scanning
Antivirus software may consume significant server resources if real-time scanning is enabled.
Recommendation:
Verify whether antivirus scans are affecting server performance.
If necessary, consult your IT administrator regarding appropriate exclusions or scan scheduling.
9. Check VPN Performance
Using Access EasyPay over a VPN may result in slower application performance.
Recommendation:
Contact your VPN service provider to optimise the VPN connection and improve network performance where possible.
